About

Gretel Capriles (also known as Leti Capriles) is a Venezuelan-born, Miami-based visual artist working across photography, painting, video, and installation.

Her practice is grounded in a process-driven approach that explores emotional perception, memory, and transformation. Rather than adhering to a single motif or material, Capriles allows each body of work to emerge from a specific moment of inquiry, responding intuitively to lived experience, material exploration, and spatial relationships. Her work often moves between abstraction and figuration, creating visual languages that reflect inner landscapes and psychological states. Her practice encompasses photography, painting, video and installation allowing each project to take form best suited to its conceptual inquiry.

Capriles has exhibited internationally and in the United States, including a solo exhibition, Sentiment Journal, at Art Media Gallery and her work has been featured in Art Miami Magazine. She has also participated in exhibitions and institutional programs in collaboration with nonprofit and cultural organizations, including Aluna Art Foundation.

In addition to her studio practice, Capriles is the founder of Tower Studios Miami, an artist-run space in Little Havana dedicated to fostering contemporary artistic dialogue, collaboration, and community engagement.

She lives and works in Miami.
